Spanish Culture Meets Adventure
In the old town of Briones (La Rioja), nearly 700 people are getting ready to dress as 14th-century Castilian townspeople and decorate the streets and doorways of the noble houses.
On the third weekend of June, this famous event draws more than 50,000 spectators.
As the sun sets on the balcony of the Palace of San Nicolás, a light and sound show narrates historical events from the 14th century as part of the available activities. The doorways also feature re-enactments of the various craftspeople from that era, such as spinners, weavers, potters, etc., along with falconry demonstrations, knightly jousting, mediaeval weddings, and more.
