Cultural Rioja’s Jazz season continues to grow under the name Mayo Jazzea, enveloping Logroño with rhythms and melodies typical of this genre during the month of May.

JACO PASTORIUS TRIBUTE BIG BAND: Thursday, May 8, 8:30 p.m.
This band pays tribute to one of the greatest bassists in the history of jazz, Jaco Pastorius. Led by Tomás Merlo, the 17-piece band will offer a faithful recreation of the repertoire of the ‘Word of Mouth Big Band’. The repertoire includes the famous “The Birthday Concert” and songs by “Weather Report,” the band with which Pastorius revolutionized jazz.
THEO CROKER: Thursday, May 15, 8:30 p.m.
American trumpeter Theo Croker arrives with his most recent project, ‘BLK2LIFE II A FUTURE PAST’, a work that mixes post-bop, funk and electronica, exploring themes of identity and self-realization. Nominated for a GRAMMY in 2019, Croker is one of the most innovative artists in jazz today.
ANTONIO SERRANO: Thursday, May 22, 8:30 p.m.
Antonio Serrano, one of the most prominent harmonica players on the Spanish jazz scene, will pay tribute to Toots Thielemans in his concert “TOOTSOLOGY”. Serrano reviews the legendary musician’s most emblematic songs, such as ‘Don’t Be That Way’ and ‘Moon River’, as well as his collaboration with Jaco Pastorius.
LUCÍA PULIDO ENSAMBLE: Thursday, May 29, 8:30 p.m.
Colombian singer Lucía Pulido is one of the most unique voices in contemporary Latin American music. Her work draws on the musical traditions of Colombia and Latin America, fusing genres such as cumbia, bullerengue, and joropo with an experimental aesthetic that highlights her vocal versatility.
