The jota is life and evolution. With it, the most relevant social, economic and political moments have been told, sung and danced, but squares and popular celebrations have also been filled with humor and love.
From the improvised picadillo jotas – which some have dared to compare to the current rap cock battles – to the dance ones, currently the jota has a diverse sample and new practitioners that make it predict a very exciting future.
A genre aimed at becoming Intangible Heritage of Humanity, as already happened with fado, tango or flamenco.
In Antología de la Jota del Ebro, we will be able to listen to and see a tour of the most relevant performers, composers and songs in its history.
El montaje está dividido en ocho bloques, siendo una voz en off la introductora. Así, podemos hablar desde apartados como la jota en la zarzuela a las grandes voces aragonesas (El Royo del Rabal, Juanito Pardo, María Blasco, Cecilio Navarro, Miguel Asso, Pilar Gascón, Pascuala Perié, José Oto, José Iranzo, Jesús Gracia o María Pilar de las Heras), navarras (Raimundo Lanas, Los Pajes de la Jota Navarra, Hermanas Flamarique, Hermanos Anoz, Faíco y Josefina) y riojanas (Pepe Blanco, Purita Ugalde “La Riojanita” o Antonio García).
No faltan las menciones a grandes figuras -por ejemplo, en Navarra- como el tenor Julián Gayarre, el violinista Pablo Sarasate o los compositores José Luis Lizarraga, José Menéndez de Esteban, Pedro Mari Flamarique y Manuel Turrillas.
